Audi Quattro Progress Report

Trust you had a great Christmas. Just a quick update to say that the Group B Audi Quattro painting is coming along really well. I have the basic outline detail of the car completed and am working on the wheel detailing at the moment.

Thanks to those who have already placed orders for this latest action-art offering. Although prices have to increase a little in the new year (as mentioned on the website) 2011 pre- orders will be at the pre- increase price.

Stig Blomqvist – Group B Audi Quattro

Hot off the press is news that action-art has just received a commission from Stig Blomqvist to produce a painting of himself competing in the incredible Group B Audi Quattro World Rally Car.

Work on this painting is starting straight away and there is an anticipated completion date of early 2012. This is the 2nd in a set of paintings artist Fran Richley is producing with the McRae Vision Charity – ‘The Group B Series’. Some of the large prints will be signed by Stig and offered to collectors at no additional cost on a first come first served basis.

Let us know your thoughts around this or any other Group B driver/car combination that you would like to see featured in this series.

Computervision MG Metro 6R4 Print NOW AVAILABLE

The completed Malcolm Wilson commissioned 6R4 print is now available following its official launch at Wales Rally GB  on 10th November 2011. Make sure you take a look at it on the action-art website. Although the website image  just a low resolution one, it serves to give a good idea of the finished artwork.

We love how this painting has turned out and around half of the prints are personally signed by Malcolm Wilson. We know that some people missed out on securing a signed Vatanen/Richards Mk2 Rothmans Escort print so don’t miss out on this one. We love it but let us know what you think!

Prodrive Mini WRC Commission

If you keep an eye on the action-art website you may have noticed that this week we have just received a commission from Prodrive to produce a painting of Kris Meeke in the new Mini John Cooper Works WRC car. We are really excited about this one. Timescales for completion will follow in due course.

action-art is a family run business based in the heart of rally country namely the South Wales valleys! Our focus is always on providing the personal touch and maintaining the highest gallery standards for our product . For example, it is difficult to differentiate one of our fine art prints from an original painting such is the quality of the reproduction. As well as the quality of our artwork,  every action-art print is commissioned or officially approved a fact that we think makes them very special indeed.

If you’re looking to purchase motor sport related artwork, please look carefully at what you’re buying and feel free to contact us about our product or with any question you may have. And if you have purchased artwork from us, we would really appreciate your comments either on the new guest book page of the action-art website, on this blog or via our Facebook wall as we are looking to expand the business and raise even more for charity along the way..

Thanks!

Metro 6R4 – Painting Completed!!

At last the Wilson/Harris Computervision Metro 6R4 painting is finished and although it’s taken a long time to complete, when you see it, we think you’ll agree that it was  well worth waiting for! Let us know what you think of the artwork. This is the first is a specific collection of paintings Fran is producing with the McRae Vision Charity of the iconic Group B rally cars. ‘The Group B Series’.

The 6R4 artwork is now being professionally photographed and will be appearing on the member’s pages of the action-art website at some point next week. This is to allow our members the usual opportunity for first viewing/order prior to the wider public release which will be at Wales Rally GB in November. We have  numerous orders for this one already which is great so we know it is going to be popular with art collectors and enthusiasts.

As for the name of the painting…..You’ll have to wait a few days for that!

Metro 6R4 at Rally Day 2011

It was so great to meet so many of you at Rally Day this year despite the somewhat variable weather. I thought the new Mini Countryman sounds incredible and a painting of this car is hopefully in the pipeline early 2012. I’ll keep you posted.

Thanks for all the kind comments about the Metro 6R4 painting. Although there are another couple of weeks prior to completion. It is clear that this is going to be a very popular print and we were pleased to received further orders at Rally Day as well as expressions of interest. If you are still thinking about whether to order this one or not bear in mind that we are only producing 150 large prints and 75 small ones and priority is being given to our membership and those who have placed orders.

I’m still looking for a good name for this one so if you have any thoughts please post on the blog or contact us via e mail.

Metro 6R4 Progress Report

I know, I know… this painting is taking so long to complete but in my defense there has been a lot of things to research around the vehicle detailing, logos etc.

Like many of you I enjoyed watching a couple of Computervision 6R4′s running on the rally stage at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed and whilst they sounded fantastic, seeing them also added to the delay a little because they both appeared to be painted a different blue. For a while I thought I was painting the wrong colour and needed to spend some time researching this aspect. I’m please to report that I wasn’t!

Although I have been hoping for a launch at Castle Combe Rally Day this month I am going to hang fire simply because I am trying to secure Patrick Head’s signature on some of the prints too. Watch this space. Action-art continues with its practice of NOT charging more for autographed artwork but Patrick’s signature would be a great bonus for those  wanting this print.

Although the print may be released to previous action-art purchasers in October, wider public release will be at Wales Rally GB 2011 in November which actually seems quite fitting!

Metro 6R4 Progress Report

Work on the 6R4 is coming along really nicely. Fran is currently working on the interior detail of the car.

Any thoughts on a name for this one? Post them here.

action-art ‘The Group B Series’

Following on from Goodwood Festival of Speed and comments made about the forthcoming 6R4 painting,  action-art will be progressing further commissions of a number of the iconic Group B cars in a specific set of paintings which we are calling ‘The Group B Series’. We will be working with the McRae Vision Charity to achieve this but would welcome you thoughts around what cars/drivers you would like to see featured. Start the dialogue here!

Goodwood Festival of Speed

It was so good to meet so many of you at the ‘Goodwood Festival of Speed’. What a fantastic event again this year and the weather was extremely kind too. (Coming from Wales, four days in a row without rain is unusual!) If it was your first visit to Goodwood we trust you enjoyed the event and hope to see you again next year.

Thanks to so many of you who took the time to call in to the McRae Vision Charity stand to say ‘hi’ to us and for the amazing and kind comments about Fran’s artwork.  ‘I thought they were photographs’ seemed to be a common statement made to us during the event which is really pleasing.

As well as the artwork, the regular appearance of the legendary Jimmy McRae and opportunities for extremely rapid passenger rides through the Goodwood forest stage in his Subaru Legacy were lifelong memories for the fortunate few. (Good on you Richard – bet you’re glad you paid!). Ken Block’s appearance at the McRae Vision stand seemed to create the longest queue of the day (Sunday) and it seems that the forthcoming action-art painting of Ken is going to be an extremely popular one!

Many of you saw Fran working on the early stages of the Computervision 6R4 painting. We will keep you all posted on progress via the blog and those who have pre-ordered/ reserved specific numbers will be notified immediately upon completion. To order in advance please simply contact action-art via the website.

A massive thanks to those who purchased prints or purchased raffle tickets. We are sure that all of the charities who benefit from the action-art print sales appreciate your support too.

Finally, it would be great if those who spoke to Fran at the Goodwood Festival would be kind enough to leave a comment about his work in this entry.
